Bagpipe Tutorial (English) by Andreas Hambsch. Andreas Hambsch began playing the bagpipes in 1993. He has won many high-profile solo competitions and for some years was also a member of a Scottish Grade 1 professional bagpipe band, competing against the best pipe bands in the world. In 2007, he completed his teacher’s examination at the Scottish College of Piping and received the College of Piping’s highest diploma in the art of bagpipe playing in 2010. He then opened a bagpipe school and has since worked as a full-time teacher, instructing students from all over the world.

The set includes:

  • McCallum PC2 Practice Chanter (Standard size):
The McCallum PC2 is a durable practice chanter made of high-quality plastic, ideal for beginners. The standard size offers narrower hole spacing than a full-size pipe chanter, making it easier to grip and particularly beginner-friendly. Perfect for practicing on a table or while seated.
  • Practice Chanter Reed:
The set includes a plastic reed, so you can start playing immediately.
  • "The Bagpipe Tutor" (in English):
This comprehensive tutor book offers over 70 pages with 29 detailed lessons. It contains 21 tunes, all embellishments, and numerous exercises to help you learn step by step. The book is ideal for both beginners and advanced players and can be used for self-study or as a companion guide for lessons.

PC2 vs. PC4: Which Practice Chanter is right for you?

  • PC2 (Standard size):
Perfect for beginners due to the narrower hole spacing, making handling and gripping easier. Ideal for practicing on a table or while seated, as the chanter can be easily rested. Recommended for those just starting or with smaller hands.
  • PC4 (long version, available separately as a set):
Offers hole spacing similar to that of a full-size pipe chanter, helping your fingers adjust faster. Easier to rest on the knee while seated, providing a more natural playing feel. Ideal for those looking to ease the transition to a full pipe chanter.

If you're just starting and prefer a smaller, easier-to-handle chanter, the PC2 is an excellent choice. However, if you want to more closely simulate the feel of a full pipe chanter, consider the PC4 (available in a separate set).

DVDs and Apps (available separately):

In addition to the tutor book, DVDs and a handy Bagpipe Tutorial app are available in the shop, with downloads from iTunes and Google Play.
