The Sporran (Gaelic for purse) is traditionally worn as a pouch with the kilt, as the kilt itself does not have pockets. It is made of leather or fur and is attached to a chain or a belt. While everyday sporrans are usually made of plain leather with minimal decorations, ceremonial sporrans are often highly embellished with various elements. A traditional regimental uniform typically includes a sporran with long horsehair.
