The Dark Island Tartan is made in a solid sett black with a sett still showing. The sett is highlighted because of the differing light reflecting qualities of the stitches.

Typically, a traditional kilt is made from 8 yards (7.3 mtr) of the finest quality fabric. The amount of cloth used depends on your size.

Answer: Before wearing your kilt for the first time, it’s important to remove the transport stitching. These stitches are there to keep the kilt in shape during shipping. Please be extra careful when removing them: use scissors or another suitable cutting tool, and be sure not to damage the kilt fabric. Carefully snipping the threads without touching the cloth is key to keeping your kilt in perfect condition.
