This striking fixed-pin penannular-style plaid brooch is a powerful tribute to the artistry of early Celtic and Pictish design. Made in Glasgow from 100% lead-free pewter, it’s the perfect finishing touch for your fly plaid or shawl.
The intricate lower section features bold ‘key patterns’ inspired by iconic Pictish carvings like the Aberlemno Cross, the Hilton Stone and the Cadboll stone. Above, elegant interlaced knotwork winds its way between a pair of entwined antlers – symbolising both the eternal threads of fate and the vibrant wild spirit of the Highlands. The central fighting stags stand for strength, nature and Highland pride.
This is a large, statement brooch – 104 mm long and 85 mm wide – with a strong, securely mounted brass pin on the back. Ideal for fly plaids or heavy shawls, it acts as a decorative weight to keep your plaid in place.
