Product information "BandSpec Humidity Pack Floater"
BandSpec Humidity Pack Floater
The BandSpec Humidity Pack Floater is a simple but effective accessory for safely reconditioning dried 75% or 84% two-way humidity packs used with bagpipe chanter reeds.
This version includes the Floater only and is ideal if you already have a suitable airtight container at home.
Two-way humidity packs are ideal for helping to keep bagpipe chanter reeds in a stable moisture environment. Over time, however, the packs can dry out. Many players either throw them away too early or try to add water directly to the pack. This can over-saturate the pack and may cause reeds to become too wet.
The BandSpec Humidity Pack Floater provides a safer and more controlled way to recondition dried humidity packs.
Simply place a small amount of clean water in an airtight container, place the Floater on the water, then place the dried humidity pack on top of the Floater. The pack must not touch the water. Once the container is sealed, moisture vapour slowly rises through the holes in the Floater and is absorbed by the humidity pack.
This is a slow, gentle process. There is no need to rush it. We recommend keeping spare humidity packs ready, so one pack can be used while another is being reconditioned.
The Floater itself is not designed to soak up water. Its purpose is to keep the humidity pack safely above the water while allowing moisture vapour to pass through.
