Peter Henderson PH1HT Heritage Thistle Bagpipes
The Peter Henderson PH1HT Heritage Thistle Bagpipes were created in 2018 to celebrate 150 years of Peter Henderson bagpipe craftsmanship. This unique set pays tribute to the Henderson tradition, combining timeless design with the finest materials. Crafted from African Blackwood, instrument-grade boxwood, and nickel, the PH1HT features intricate laser-etched Thistle designs that showcase exceptional artistry and detail.
The projecting mount profile is inspired by a refined 1910 design, offering a more elegant aesthetic compared to models from the 1920s. The first-grade boxwood, carefully selected for its quality, polishes to a natural high luster, beautifully contrasting the African Blackwood. These bagpipes are not only an outstanding instrument to play but also a treasured heirloom to pass on to future generations.
Peter Henderson Bagpipes, produced by R.G. Hardie & Co., are among the most sought-after instruments in the world. Renowned for their unique sound and tonal qualities, they inspire pipers of all skill levels to achieve their best. The innovative plastic lining system in the blowpipe and blowpipe stock protects the Blackwood from moisture-related stresses, ensuring durability and consistent performance.
Each set is engraved with a unique serial number on the bass stock, signifying its authenticity and heritage.

Pipe Major Richard Parkes MBE shared his experience with this model: “The Peter Henderson Heritage Pipes look and sound great. The engraving is impressive, and the grain in the boxwood mounts makes the pipes look very authentic. The tone is very full and sonorous with a deep resonant bass, and overall they have a very warm and resonant sound. I really enjoyed playing them at Winter Storm this year.”
