Fred Morrison Key of A/D Smallpipes – A Versatile Combination Set
The Fred Morrison smallpipes are a practical and beautifully crafted combination set, made in Scotland from African Blackwood. With refined alloy ferrules and imitation ivory drone tops, these pipes have an elegant look and a rich, balanced tone.
Clever Combination Design:
- Includes four drones that remain in the stock, with one plugged depending on the key.
- A small slide on one drone converts it from a D bass drone to an A baritone drone, making key transitions seamless.
- Comes with two Blackwood pipe chanters, in key of A and key of D.
- The D chanter, while compact, is designed for comfortable playing.

Mouth-Blown vs Bellows-Blown – What’s the Difference?
This smallpipe set is available in two versions:
- Mouth-blown: Equipped with a Blackwood blowpipe and alloy mouthpiece, played by blowing air directly into the bag.
- Bellows-blown: Comes with a high-quality bellows made from premium materials for effortless operation, durability, and enhanced air efficiency. The ergonomic design ensures comfortable playing, while the sturdy, well-engineered adapter provides a secure and reliable connection. These bellows reduce moisture build-up and extend reed longevity.
Both versions offer the same rich tone and versatility – the choice depends on your playing preference.
