The Duncan MacRae reproduction bagpipes, manufactured by McCallum Bagpipes, represent a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. These bagpipes are exact replicas of the antique MacRae pipes played by world-renowned piper Stuart Liddell. Meticulously examined and measured by McCallum Bagpipes, these instruments recreate the unique sound and character of Stuart’s original set, meeting the high standards of a Grade 1 pipe major and Glenfiddich Piping Champion.

One distinctive feature of the Duncan MacRae bagpipes is the design of the tenor drones. Unlike standard bagpipes where the two tenor drones are identical, the Duncan MacRae bagpipes feature two tenor drones of slightly different sizes. This unique characteristic, faithfully reproduced from Stuart Liddell’s original pipes, contributes to their rich, resonant sound. The top tenor joint is marked (M) to ensure proper assembly, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship behind these instruments.
